It’s Not Your Nightmare…

Last night I dreamed that my brother, Mike, was PIGGING OUT on French fries. I mean he was shoveling them in his mouth like he expected to win a contest. But here’s the thing–the thing that makes sense only in a dream or under the influence of hallucinogens: my brother ate…BUT I GOT FAT! And he was laughing about it! He saw that what he was doing was affecting me, and that made him laugh even harder.

Do you ever worry about what other people are doing so much that it actually effects you physically, emotionally or spiritually? If you catch yourself responding in your gut to the actions of others, take a step back and remind yourself of a very simple point:

YOU get what YOU put into life. It doesn’t matter what “your brother” is doing unless it effects you!

This week, keep your mind, your feelings and your spirit on yourself, the things that you personally control. And for everything else you see “your brother” do that tempts to make you angry or jealous, remind yourself that YOU are responsible for YOU. YOU will get what YOU put into your life.

And dang if it isn’t gratifying when you wake up and realize that you don’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders!

Talk about a Monday morning wake up call!
    Well said.
We sometimes feel like we need to to respond to everything / everyone around us, and that we have to take on the world…

But you are right, and thank you for reminding us that we always have the choice, and just as we make our own bed, we make our own life.

    Great blog as always.
